I've been putting this off for a while, but here is a sculpture I made of Spike from the MLP:FIM show. I've seen many pony sculptures out there, but only a couple of Spikes. I think Spike needs more love. I referenced several screen shots to try and get his proportions and details just right, but I think I made his face a little too pudgy...or maybe I could claim his cheeks are full of gems? :3
He's not initially perfect. I wanted to give him a big, wide mouth smile, but I wasn't sure how to go about sculpting that kind of facial expression. I tried asking a couple folks about tips that could help, but I never got a reply back. So, because I was too nervous about destroying the head of the sculpture, I painted a little smile on him instead. I think its the only part of the sculpture that I'm not happy with, but he still came out cute.
I have decided to sell him, but he didn't sell on eBay. So I'm posting up his listing here:
THE PRICE and ITEM:

This is a One of a Kind, 3.5 inch tall (4 inches with Base) sculpture of the character Spike the baby dragon from the "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" TV show. The Sculpture is hand crafted of Super Sculpey over an armature wire skeleton. It is painted with acrylics and glazed to ensure the color is protected and water resistant in case of accidents. This is a decorative figurine, not a toy.
Spike is mounted on a custom decorated round wooden base with a nice dark oak finish (4 inch diameter). The custom made "Dragon Horde" around the sculpture is comprised of a layer of fine gold glitter on the bottom, topped with a layer of gold colored Makit Bakit "crystals" and high quality kaleidoscope gems. The base layers and pieces are sealed together to ensure no little parts will break off and make a mess.
There are not a lot of Spike related items out there, so this would make a very lovely addition to any collection, or a sweet gift to a friend or loved one who is a fan of the character or show.

The item will be properly padded and protected to ensure it arrives in pristine condition. Believe me, I have more than enough bubble wrap and impact resistance packaging to resist the moon falling on it. The package will be insured and shipped via Priority Mail to ensure the figurine will get to its new owner as fast and safe as possible.

Overall Vision Originality Technique ImpactThis is a good little scene for Spike to be in, showing off his well known love for gems as a food. Putting the gems on just the front where the main focus would be is a good idea. I'm no terrific expert on the show, but I'm pretty sure you got Spike's anatomy and body proportions correct, and I know the colors are spot on. His pose, eyes and smile here are quite cute but maybe it would've been better with an open mouth smile? I can't think of much else you could do to improve this, its quite solid work, and yet just a solitary figure sculpture.
